The late Dr. Azzam Al Zoebie United States of America

The late Dr. Azzam Al Zoebie made significant contributions to Abu Dhabi’s medical sector as Consultant and Division Head of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Sheikh Khalifa Medical Clinic (SKMC). For more than 12 years, Dr. Azam dedicated himself to raising awareness amongst patients and the community about blood diseases through the establishment of social groups and recreational events for young patients and their families.

Throughout his years of service, Dr. Azzam always focused on the patient – and all their human qualities and personal concerns - supporting those with cancer, and assisting their families coping with the illness of a loved one. He established cancer support groups that included the “Mothers Support Group”, the “Siblings Support Group” and the “Parent Support Group”, addressing the individual needs of the Abu Dhabi community.

Dr. Azzam also played a vital role in developing the Hematology Division at SKMC, with particular emphasis on hematology research. He was a co-founder of the Emirates Society of Hematology, a society mandated to improve the quality of medical care.

Dr. Azzam passed away in May 2017 after a struggle with cancer at the age of 51.
