A LEGACY OF GOODNESS AND GIVING

About

From Vision to Legacy

The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founding Father of the United Arab Emirates, firmly believed in the fundamental generosity and kindness of the people of the Emirates. His vision was rooted in faith in humanity and the conviction that every person has the capacity to contribute selflessly to their community. In preserving the legacy of our nation's Founding Father, the Abu Dhabi Awards initiative was established in 2005.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the Abu Dhabi Awards is a Government initiative that recognises and celebrates inspiring individuals who have selflessly dedicated themselves to supporting others, while contributing to the betterment of the UAE community.

Award recipients receive the Abu Dhabi Medal, granted by a resolution issued by the Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

For over two decades, the Award has recognised individuals who have selflessly served the UAE community in many ways, celebrating their contributions and inspiring others to do the same.

Open to people from all around the UAE, the Award invites members of the community to nominate those inspiring individuals regardless of their age, nationality, or occupation. This includes UAE citizens, residents, or non-residents whose good deeds have positively impacted the UAE.

Award recipients are selected based solely on their deeds, and not by the number of nominations they receive.

Since its inauguration in 2005, 100 recipients have received an Abu Dhabi Award over 11 nomination campaigns.
