H.E. Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr United Arab Emirates

H.E. Mohammed Al Murr, Chairman of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation and former Speaker of the Federal National Council, is one of UAE’s most influential political and cultural innovators, revered as a custodian and resource of UAE culture and heritage.

With years of experience and study in literature, culture, poetry, Arabic calligraphy and art in its various forms, H.E. Mohammed Al Murr introduced pioneering cultural projects such as the Etihad Museum, Dubai Opera, Sheikh Zayed Book Award, the Culture and Scientific Association and Huroof Arabiya, a magazine with a focus on Arabic calligraphy.

His work has been instrumental in shaping and showcasing UAE talent and heritage, and developing global platforms that unite worldwide communities and perspectives.

His contributions also include several publications on the local community of Emirati writers, as well as documenting Emirati dialects, capturing the cultural nuance and history of the country.

H.E. Mohammed Al Murr has published more than 10 books and novels, several of which have been translated into English and Hindi, including “The Wink of the Mona Lisa, and Other Stories from the Gulf” and “Dubai Tales.” In addition, two books were incorporated into the curricula of several UAE universities.
