Cameron Oliver

With the support of his parents, Cameron Oliver was the driving force behind the creation of a national community awareness campaign to prevent camels being injured by littering in the desert. Many residents were unaware of the number of camels dying as a result of ingesting plastic litter left behind by campers in deserts. A passionate animal lover, Cameron’s mission started with a class project presented to his peers and teachers at his school, which evolved into an integrated awareness campaign that aimed at the wider community. His campaign consisted of a website, flyers, stickers, T-shirts, and caps. Many national and international media took an interest in Cameron’s campaign thus receiving wide-spread media coverage. Cameron continues to raise awareness of the camels’ plight through presentations and media interviews.
