Lieutenant General (Rtd.) Obaid Mohammed Al Kaabi
Lieutenant General (Rtd.) Obaid Mohammed Al Kaabi played a central and significant role in the early years of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces.
Born in 1947, Al Kaabi grew up in the Al Jimi area of Al Ain city. He started his military career in 1963 at the Industrial School of Trucial States/ Arabian Gulf, after which he was promoted to the rank of Officer Candidate in the Abu Dhabi Defense Force in 1968.
His illustrious military career saw Al Kaabi advance to Deputy Chief of Staff before finally occupying the position of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense.
In recognition of his contributions to the UAE military, Al Kaabi was awarded numerous badges and honours, including medals related to his efforts in commemorating the establishment of the UAE, and a for uniting the Armed Forces.
Al Kaabi was also a leading figure in the development of the Al Ain community, where he would host lectures on various topics relevant to families and youth. His dedication to civic duty made him a high profile and valued community role model.
