Abu Dhabi Awards Tours Universities in the Capital

The Abu Dhabi Awards team has conducted visits to Zayed University's male and female campuses in Abu Dhabi last, as part of its campaign to reach all members of the community to call out for nominations for its 2017 edition. Abu Dhabi Awards are a Government initiative established in 2005 to honour individuals who have selflessly dedicated themselves to helping others and contributed to the development of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Commenting on the Abu Dhabi Awards’ visit, the Office of the Student Affairs, said: "At Zayed University we aim to develop a generation of young leaders who strive to have a positive impact on the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, so we are pleased to have been chosen as a location to collect nominations from students. The Awards preserve the legacy of the nation's late founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, by celebrating goodness and inspiring good deeds within the Emirate."

Mazen Ahmed, Zayed University student said: "This initiative is extremely impactful because it instils the notion that every person can have a positive impact – no matter how small. To me, someone’s reaction when simply knowing they could be eligible for the Awards is testament to its value amongst the community."

Mohammad Aleidrous, Ambassador of Happiness and student at Zayed University, said: "Abu Dhabi Awards is a prominent initiative in the UAE, that contributes to the development of a young generation that is able to continue the UAE's ongoing success."

The Abu Dhabi Awards will also be present at Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi next week, followed by visits to Higher Colleges of Technology, Khalifa University, and the United Arab Emirates University.

As the Emirate’s highest civilian honour that can be given to anyone who has made a positive impact on Abu Dhabi, the Awards celebrate goodness and strive to inspire a community of good deeds. Since inception, the Abu Dhabi Awards have recognised 71 unsung heroes who have made a positive impact on society in the Emirate. Nominations total almost a quarter of a million to date, representing 135 nationalities.

Nominees of all ages can include Abu Dhabi citizens, residents and non-residents as well as those who live overseas, as long as they have contributed to the development of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The nomination period for this edition runs until 3 June 2017, and the public can nominate through:
