The late Dr. Adnan AlPachachi

The late Dr. Adnan Al Pachachi, was a politician and diplomat, who played a pivotal role in the formation of the UAE’s political structure, laying the foundations of the country’s foreign policy during the rule of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Dr. Al Pachachi moved to the United Arab Emirates in 1968 and undertook work as a legal consultant for the late Sheikh Zayed. During the formation of the UAE, he served as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Advisor to the late Sheikh Zayed. He went on to contribute to the UAE through several influential government positions and was on the board of directors of some of Abu Dhabi’s most important entities.

Dr. Al Pachachi arrived in the UAE with extensive political experience, a crucial asset as the United Arab Emirates became a nation. Dr. Al Pachachi was part of the UAE mission team that secured the country’s acceptance into the United Nations. Subsequently, the UAE became the first country to address the UN General Assembly in Arabic in 1972.

His list of achievements is immense – including his contribution to formulating the UAE constitution, helping to lay the groundwork of Sheikh Zayed’s early foreign policy and serving as a member of the first Executive Council of Abu Dhabi.

Described as a sincere and hard-working man, Dr. Al Pachachi was considered a source of valuable information for the UAE.
